Akutveckan is Sweden's emergency care conference that brings together the country's emergency physicians, emergency nurses and nursing assistants, ambulance nurses and other actors in the emergency care chain.
The focus of the conference is to promote the further development of the specialty of emergency medicine across the country and in the Nordic region. This is where patient care, risk stratification, life-saving procedures and critical care meet logistics, empathy and science.
emergency medicine is the specialty for the independent care of critically ill patients and all others who present to the emergency department or are cared for pre-hospital. Through Nordic collaborations, we want to learn from each other and come closer to this common goal. In 2026, the conference hosts NordFEM and focuses on our Nordic neighbors Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland.
The conference has existed since the 2000s, then under the name SWEETs, Swedish Emergency Medicine Talks. Since 2025, the conference has changed its name to Akutveckan to increase clarity and open up new arenas for Sweden's fastest growing specialist group.
In recent years, the conference has been held outside Gothenburg but will return to Stockholm in 2026. We welcome on average around 300 participants to the conference.
